Participation and confirmation
Application, Step 2 and the official participation process
How does a choir begin the participation process?
First review How to Participate for eligibility and the official process. When the choir is ready to begin, use Apply as Step 1. The sequence then continues to Step 2, review of the written proposal together with Base Program 2027, and confirmation.
Does submitting Apply confirm participation?
No. Apply begins the participation process. Participation is confirmed only after the required review, proposal and confirmation steps are completed.

Use Base Program 2027 for the general participation framework, package conditions and responsibilities. Delegation-specific conditions are stated in the written proposal issued for the choir.

Travel, costs and planning
Questions directors often need answered before making commitments
Are international flights included?
International airfare should not be assumed to be included. Directors should review the Base Program 2027 and the written proposal issued for their choir for the applicable responsibilities and inclusions.
Can family members or companions travel with the choir?
Companion arrangements depend on the choir's participation structure and proposal. Include estimated companions when the festival requests delegation information so planning can be evaluated accurately.
Can a choir arrive before or leave after the official festival dates?
Additional dates should not be assumed to be part of the official festival package. If your choir needs a different travel window or a personalized Costa Rica journey, use Travel with Purpose Costa Rica for Choirs.
What repertoire should a choir prepare?
Choirs should follow the current artistic guidance communicated for the 2027 edition. Use How to Participate and the guidance provided directly to choir directors. The Common Songs page preserves previously published shared repertoire and rehearsal resources; only repertoire officially confirmed for 2027 should be treated as current.
Are there Common Songs?
Choral Fest has used shared repertoire for collective musical moments in different editions. The Common Songs page preserves previously published scores and rehearsal resources. For 2027, only repertoire confirmed through Program 2027 or official choir-director communications should be treated as current.
Should choirs buy flights before confirmation?
Directors should avoid major non-refundable travel commitments until participation status, official dates and relevant arrival or departure requirements are sufficiently clear.
Where should we verify passport, visa and entry requirements?
Travelers should verify current official entry requirements for their nationality and itinerary through the relevant government or consular sources. Use Passport Requirements for Choir Tours and the international travel planning resources as supporting guides.
Should a choir review travel insurance?
Directors should consider whether travel insurance is appropriate for their group and review the actual policy terms, exclusions and timing. Use Travel Insurance for Choir Groups for the planning questions to review.
