How can my choir apply for participation in Choral Fest Costa Rica?
To apply, simply fill out the application form. Ensure you send us a recent recording of your choir (YouTube or MP3 format), a proposed repertoire (maximum 30 minutes), a short biography of both the choir and conductor, as well as a recent photograph of the choir and conductor.
Is there an application fee?
No, there is no cost associated with applying for the International Choral Fest Costa Rica.
Is there a participation fee?
Once your application is accepted, there will be a per-person participation fee. This fee includes concert promotion, on-site land transportation, accommodations, most meals, sightseeing excursions, and a tour/festival guide. How do we know we are accepted to sing at the festival?
Approximately two weeks after submitting a complete application, you will receive notification of your choir’s acceptance. We pay particular attention to the quality of the performance presented in the recording you submitted.
Are prizes awarded during the Choral Fest Costa Rica?
The International Choral Fest Costa Rica is a non-competitive event held in a relaxed atmosphere. We welcome singers from around the world to enjoy, learn from each other, and engage in our workshops.
What is the best way to get to Costa Rica?
Your journey should begin by flying into San Jose, Costa Rica, with the airport code SJO (Juan Santamaria International Airport). Multiple airlines serve this airport, including American Airlines, Interjet, JetBlue, United Airlines, Delta, Southwest Airlines, Spirit Air, Frontier, Air Canada, Mexicana, Aeromexico, Avianca, Copa, Iberia, Condor, British Airways, Air France. Upon your arrival, our team will be there to greet you at the airport.
Is a visa required to enter Costa Rica?
Citizens of all countries require a valid passport (with at least 6 months validity) to enter Costa Rica. Visa requirements vary, but for most travelers with a USA and/or Schengen Visa, there is no need to request a Costa Rican visa. Citizens of the USA, Canada, and most Latin American, European countries, and Japan may stay for 90 days.
Are immunizations required?
Costa Rica maintains high health standards. Travelers arriving from Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, and Venezuela, whether coming from their home countries or just transiting, must have a Yellow Fever vaccination. This also applies to nationals of certain African countries.
How should we pack?
Pack light and travel light. Besides your choir’s outfit(s), bring casual clothing like shorts, t-shirts, comfortable shoes, swimwear, and an ample supply of your favorite toiletries and personal health items for your comfort.
Should we exchange money to the local currency?
We primarily use Costa Rican Colones, but USDollars and Euros are readily exchangeable. ATMs are available for withdrawing USDollars or CRColones, and major credit cards like Visa and MasterCard are widely accepted.
Do you offer vegetarian/vegan food?
Yes, we accommodate dietary needs. Please provide accurate information about your choir participants’ requirements, and we will ensure they are catered to accordingly.
