Our Story: Choral Fest Costa Rica for Peace
Our Story begins with Choral Fest Costa Rica for Peace: a space where international choirs, Costa Rican ensembles, choir directors and communities can meet without competing, share their music, and turn peace into a concrete experience.
The story of Choral Fest Costa Rica for Peace began with a question: what would happen if an international choir festival used music not to decide who is better, but to help people listen to one another?
From that vision, a non-competitive choral gathering was built, open to children's, youth, university, community, professional, religious, women's, men's and mixed-voice choirs.
Costa Rica offered a natural setting for this idea. Its identity as a country of peace, its cultural diversity, its communities and its natural richness made it possible to bring together choral music, cultural tourism and human connection.
With each edition, the festival grew into a platform for exchange between international choirs and national ensembles. Concerts stopped being limited to large stages and began reaching churches, schools, communities and public spaces as well.
What defines us
A non-competitive choral festival with human purpose
Our identity rests on principles that guide every concert, workshop, community visit and encounter between cultures.
Peace as a practice
We don't present peace only as a message. We aim to turn it into listening, hospitality, cooperation and respect between people.
Music without competition
Choirs don't travel to compete against each other. They travel to sing, learn, share repertoire and build lasting bonds.
International exchange
Choirs and directors from different countries find in Costa Rica a safe place to share culture, education and experiences.
Community
Every host venue is part of the experience. Communities aren't just an audience: they welcome, accompany and give meaning to the choral gathering.
