Our Vision

Peace is not only spoken. It is practiced.

We believe that peace does not begin only in great speeches, treaties or abstract ideas.

Peace begins in concrete human experiences: learning to listen, making room for others and living with differences without erasing them.

That is why, at Choral Fest Costa Rica for Peace, we understand choral music as much more than an artistic expression.

We see it as a living way to practice community, respect, cooperation and human encounter.

What kind of world do we want to help build?

We live in a time when many people share spaces, but not always real presence.

Words are everywhere, but deep listening is often scarce.

The speed of the world can weaken our ability to truly meet one another.

In the face of that reality, our vision is born from a simple but powerful conviction: it is still possible to rebuild community.

And one of the most human, beautiful and transformative ways to do that is through choral singing.

What we mean by peace

For us, peace is not only the absence of conflict.

Peace is not forced silence. It is not uniformity. It is not pretending that differences do not exist.

Peace is the ability to live together without imposing ourselves, to listen without interrupting, to participate without excluding and to find our own place without erasing the place of another person.

That is why we speak of peace as something that is practiced.

A peace that does not remain only in language, but becomes experience.

A peace that can be breathed, felt and lived when a group of people decides to tune not only their voices, but also their way of being together.

We do not work only to present concerts

We work to create encounter.

Our vision is expressed in every rehearsal, every concert, every exchange between choirs and every shared experience among people who often did not know one another before singing together.

We want each participant to discover that music can become a path for practicing another way of living together.

The stage can become a place where art and humanity meet.

A well-lived choral experience can leave a much deeper mark than an isolated artistic performance.

That is why we seek to create festivals, projects, encounters and processes where singing is not only the result.

Singing is also the path.

A choir is much more than people singing

In a choir, no one can build beauty completely alone.

Every voice matters, but no voice is enough by itself.

Harmony appears when differences find order, respect and mutual listening.

That is why choral singing is, for us, a living metaphor for the world we want to inhabit.

A world where people do not have to compete constantly in order to be heard.

A world where diversity is not erased, but organized in service of something greater.

Singing together requires attention, humility, coordination, shared breathing and sensitivity toward others.

For that reason, the choir becomes a deeply human practice.

A culture of peace that can also be heard

We dream of communities where listening becomes valuable again.

We dream of children, young people and adults discovering that their voice matters, but that it also needs other voices.

We dream of choirs that travel not only to present repertoire, but to open themselves to the world and return transformed.

We dream of a network of people and ensembles that understand that singing together can become a concrete way to plant respect, empathy, belonging and hope.

At the heart of this vision is something simple and necessary:

A world where more people remember that it is still possible to meet one another with humanity.

Why this vision matters for an international choral festival

An international festival can be much more than a calendar of concerts.

It can become a place where singers discover other cultures, directors build bridges, audiences receive messages of hope and communities experience music as a shared human language.

At Choral Fest Costa Rica for Peace, we do not want choirs to come only to perform.

We want them to come to listen, to learn, to share and to experience the power of many voices becoming one message.

This is what gives meaning to the festival.

The role of Costa Rica

Costa Rica offers a unique context for this vision.

It is a country widely associated with peace, nature, education and hospitality.

For choirs from around the world, Costa Rica can become more than a destination. It can become a living setting where music, culture and peace meet naturally.

When a choir comes to Costa Rica, it does not only visit a beautiful country.

It enters a space where singing for peace can become a shared experience with people, communities and landscapes that give the journey deeper meaning.

What this vision means for choir directors

For a choir director, choosing a festival is not only an artistic decision.

It is also an educational, human and emotional responsibility.

A director asks:

Will this experience help my singers grow? Will it strengthen the identity of the choir? Will it give the group a reason to sing with deeper purpose? Will it be worth the effort, the travel and the preparation?

Our vision seeks to answer those questions with clarity:

Choral Fest Costa Rica for Peace is for choirs that want music to become more than performance.

It is for directors who believe that singing together can shape how people listen, coexist and belong.

What this vision means for singers

For singers, a festival can become a turning point.

They may arrive thinking only about repertoire, concerts and travel.

But when they sing in a new country, meet people from other cultures and understand that their voice can carry a message of peace, something changes.

They begin to see their voice not only as sound, but as presence.

Not only as technique, but as responsibility.

Not only as music, but as a way of participating in the world.

Our vision does not end as an idea

It becomes real when it is lived.

Every time a choir truly listens, something changes.

Every time several voices breathe together and build harmony, a small possibility of human transformation opens.

This is the vision that sustains Choral Fest Costa Rica for Peace:

To believe that choral singing can help us remember how community is built, how peace is practiced and how a more human encounter between people can become possible.

It is time to take the next step

Bringing your choir to Costa Rica can become much more than an artistic trip.

It can become an experience that strengthens the identity of the group, deepens coexistence and leaves a real mark on every singer.

We are ready to welcome choirs that want to sing with purpose, listen with respect and become part of a message that is larger than the stage.

Together, we can create an experience that unites voices, people and communities.
